Richard qualified at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1980, and came to work in Grantham as his first job for Oliver and Jenkins in Avenue Road. He became a partner in the newly created Avenue Veterinary Centre in 1985 when most of his work involved farm animals and some pets. He has always had a keen interest in veterinary orthopaedics, and is Vice Chairman of the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association. As well as carrying out surgery on our own clients' animals, we also provide an experienced service for other local vets.
Richard lives in Bottesford with Helena, their two sons, their pointer cross dog “Paddy” and a wonky-eared rabbit. When not working, Richard most enjoys spending time with the family, but in his earlier days his passions lay in mountains and travel.

Neill qualified at the Royal Veterinary College of London in July 1989, and came to work in Grantham for his first job at the Avenue Veterinary Centre. For the first two years he was involved in all aspects of mixed practice, and he has then gone onto concentrate on the equine side, he is still involved in emergency treatment of all species, which is the same for all of the vets here.
Matthew took his first degree in animal sciences from the University of Nottingham in 1993. He took his veterinary degree from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and joined the Avenue Veterinary Centre in the same year. Matthew currently enjoys varied mixed practice and takes responsibility for most of the livestock medicine and surgery services. He is married and has two young children and a chocolate Labrador called Nutmeg.
Helena Rymaszewska BVetMed MRCVS
Helena graduated from the London Royal Veterinary College in 1989. She has worked here at Avenue since 1998. She was originally in mixed practice, now treating small animals only.
Helena and Richard own a naughty rescue dog from Ireland called Paddy and a wonky-eared rabbit!
Claire graduated from Liverpool Vet School in 1995 and spent the first 5 years working in a mixed practice in Barnsley. After meeting her husband in 1999 she moved to Grantham and has been working here at The Avenue Veterinary Centre since then. She works here 4 days a week and has been practicing acupuncture since 2004.
She has 2 children, 3 step-children and 4 step-grandchildren and when she gets time to herself she teaches Karate in Bottesford and Whatton.
She has a Border terrier called Jack and 2 cats called Oscar and Ninja.
Zoe qualified from Cambridge University in June 2014. She enjoys small animal surgery and farm animal medicine. Zoe has a cat called Gus and a dog called Jess, both of who were rescued.
She enjoys baking, walking, shopping and agricultural shows in her spare time.
Jackie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2004. She is originally from Lincolnshire and joined Avenue Veterinary Centre as a locum vet in 2014. Jackie is now a regular locum here, so you may see her whenever another member of the team is away and during our busy times of year. She is experienced in all areas of mixed practice treating all species and has a particular interests in farm animal medicine and feline & canine medical cases. Jackie has two rescue cats and a dog of her own. Jackie is currently on Maternity leave after having her son, Rowan in November.
Tom graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2017. He is originally from the Grantham area and enjoys playing rugby and American football in his spare time. He is very much looking forward to getting his first dog in the near future!
He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and is looking forward to the challenges that mixed practice provides.
Charlotte qualified at the Royal Veterinary University of London in 2017.
She has a diverse passion to care for the cute and cuddly, farm animals and your special exotics. She loves to travel the world and enjoy time with her husband who lives in Germany.
She is a very special stepmum to 2 sons, 2 daughters, and a new pointer puppy "Reeka".
Charlotte balances her life connecting with people, an adamant body builder, she enjoys shopping, hiking, yoga, and loves a new recipe challange in the kitchen.
Mino qualified at the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2017.
She enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures, she has lived in Japan, Canada, USA and now the UK. In her spare time she enjoys making hand made jewellery, tatting lace and crochet.
She is keen to get involeved in all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially farm medicine and small animal surgery including exotic species. She likes to foster cats that come through the practice as stray until we find their owners or new home.
